30th ANNUAL ICABR CONFERENCE 2026

The 30th ICABR Conference is Welcoming You...

2026 ICABR is calling you to Ravello July 2026

Step into the future of bioeconomy at The Bioeconomy Transformation in Transition: Past Successes, Current Challenges, and Future Prospects, hosted in the breathtaking town of Ravello, Italy. Celebrating three decades of pioneering research and global dialogue, the 30th International Consortium on Applied Bioeconomy Research (ICABR) conference brings together leading minds to explore innovation, policy, and progress in biotechnology and agricultural development. With a legacy of shaping the field, 47 of the top 50 articles in a landmark 2014 collection were first presented at ICABR; this year’s event promises cutting-edge insights and dynamic exchange. Featuring keynote addresses from global experts, including Nobel Laureate Dr. Riccardo Valentini and thought leaders from institutions such as IFPRI, Wageningen University, and Carnegie Sciences, the conference will also host panels on pressing topics like scientific integrity, funding R&D, and international treaty frameworks. Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit abstracts aligned with three core themes: Innovation at Work, Challenges Facing Innovative Research, and Opportunities for Improving Innovation. Don’t miss this opportunity to shape the future of bioeconomy; submit your work and be part of the transformation.

An important pre-conference workshop about the research and education needs of multilateral bioeconomy inititatives will be held the afternoon of July 6 in the Ravello Auditorium. Recently, there has been rapid acceleration of multilateral initiatives in the bioeconomy, such as the G20 Initiative on Bioeconomy, the International Bioeconomy Forum, FAO/UNFF-COLI Initiative on Sustainable Forest-Based Bioeconomy, the UNFCCC COP30 Bioeconomy Challenge and UNFCCC COP30 Building For Forests initiative. Accompanying this evolution is a dynamic need for input and expertise from the collective of academic institutions engaged in bioeconomy research around the world. The session will include a plenary panel about the initiatives underway and the research and education challenges they are encountering. The plenary will be followed by concurrent workshops according to the bioeconomy’s four resource domains—forest, agriculture, marine and microbial—to reflect on how these issues are being (or should be) addressed in academia, followed by a synthesis/concluding panel. There is no additional cost to attend this pre-conference workshop.

SITES-ICABR 2026 Summer School

Economics for Sustainable Development: Bioeconomy and One Health as Interdependent Governance Frameworks

📍 Ravello (Italy) | 🗓 July 6–7, 2026

The SITES-ICABR 2026 Summer School invites applications from PhD students, early-career researchers, and professionals interested in the economics ofsustainable development, with a particular focus on the role of bioeconomy and biotechnological innovation within a One Health framework. The Summer School is grounded in the recognition that human, animal, and environmental health are deeply interconnected, and that agriculture and rural territories play a central role in addressing global challenges related to food security, climate change, biodiversity, and public health. The One Health approach provides the overarching conceptual framework through which bioeconomy strategies, innovation pathways, and policy interventions are analysed. The Summer School aims to serve as a premier technical incubator where researchers bridge the gap between micro-level biotechnological shifts and macro-economic policy frameworks. By mastering integrated CGE and econometric modeling, participants gain the specific analytical toolkit required to lead multilateral bioeconomy initiatives for sustainable development. ICABR participants from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) will be granted free participation in the SITES–ICABR Summer School.
