ICABR 2020 in Argentina cancelled. We invite all for the 2021 ICABR 25th anniversary conference in Ravello, Italy. More details will follow soon.

The ICABR Board of Directors and the Local Planning Committee have been closely monitoring the evolving Covid-19 pandemic situation and the global travel restrictions. We regret to announce that it will have to cancel the in-person conference scheduled for October 12 -15, 2020 in Cordoba, Argentina. Instead, we are initiating a series of free webinars and exploring more possibilities for online presentations and/or webinars in the fall. We will keep you informed about these.

Two ICABR webinars have been planned in collaboration with other international organizations. The first two have been organized with IFAD, FAO, IFPRI, and the World Bank and will be held on June 12th and June 19th. The topic of these seminars is “Bridging Research and Policy Challenges on Covid-19: Value Chains, Food Security, Women, Youth and Vulnerable Groups.” We will send the official notification about this meeting this week. The second series of webinars beginning in July will focus on: How to Build Back Better: Increasing the Resilience of the Bioeconomy During and After Covid-19.

We would also like to inform you that the journal Sustainability has a call for papers for a special issue related to the ICABR 2020 conference theme “Accelerating Bioeconomy Growth through Applied Research and Policy Change.” We invite you to submit papers for the special issue. The submission deadline is November 30, 2020. Early submissions are highly encouraged. For more detailed information please visit the journal web-site: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sustainability/special_issues/bioeconomy_growth. The journal charges an administrative fee. Authors of accepted papers can apply for a grant to cover the fee. Interested authors should contact after paper acceptance Travis Reynolds at twreynol@uvm.edu. Preference will be given to scholars from research institutes and universities in the Global South.

March 26
Conference Date Postponed: Due to the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic, the ICABR 2020 conference has been postponed until October 12-15.

The ICABR Board of Directors and the Local Planning Committee have been closely monitoring the evolving situation and at present, the degree of uncertainty regarding the resumption of normal travel is too high, therefore, the decision was made to postpone the conference until October. We are all optimistic the crisis will have abated and the conference will be able to proceed as planned at this time. If anything changes over the coming months, we will be in contact.

The meeting will be held in Cordoba, Argentina as originally planned. The papers, symposia and posters that have been accepted will remain the main components of the conference. Some of the keynote speakers have also agreed to participate in October. However, some of you may not be able to participate in October. It would greatly help us in our planning if you tell us that you cannot make it.
